Language, relationships and learning together. An Education Corner at Primary School Number 19 in Kielce

Polish-language textbooks, games and materials for learning together are intended to help pupils settle into everyday school life. The “Friendly School – Świętokrzyskie” Education Corner has arrived at Irena Sendler Primary School Number 19 in Kielce, where representatives of the Integration Europe-East Association and the Education Authority in Kielce also took part in integration and psychological support sessions.

On 7 October 2026, Irena Sendler Primary School Number 19 in Kielce received the “Friendly School – Świętokrzyskie” Education Corner. Its materials are designed to make learning Polish easier and support work in a multicultural classroom. They will remain at the school for use in future lessons, meetings and discussions.

The handover was attended by representatives of the Integration Europe-East Association, the regional operator for the second module of the “Friendly School” programme, and the Education Authority in Kielce. The visitors also took part in integration and psychological support sessions for pupils with migrant and refugee backgrounds.

Polish for the classroom and everyday conversation

Understanding a teacher’s instructions, reading an exercise in a textbook, explaining an idea – learning in a new language presents children and young people with very practical challenges. The resources in the Education Corner are intended to help them meet these challenges. They support both everyday communication and the development of the language skills needed to study different school subjects.

The corner brings together textbooks and teaching materials for Polish as a foreign language, suited to different levels of proficiency, with games and materials about integration, cultural diversity and communication between people from different cultures. These are complemented by printed project publications and selected educational resources for working with pupils from other countries.

The materials can be used in language classes, individual work and small group sessions. They are also intended to be available to teachers, intercultural assistants and parents. This gives the school a lasting resource for everyday work, which can be used in response to pupils’ needs.

Learning together creates opportunities to connect

The Education Corner is also intended to bring pupils together. Games, shared tasks and discussions about educational materials can provide opportunities to learn about other people’s experiences and see the world through someone else’s eyes. The corner is designed for this kind of work: learning together and intercultural dialogue.

This aim is also reflected in the integration and psychological support sessions attended by representatives of the Association and the Education Authority. The sessions are designed to help young people build relationships, strengthen their sense of safety and find their place at school.

We thank the school community and representatives of the Education Authority in Kielce for the meeting and their cooperation in supporting pupils.
