Traditions that bring us together. Workshops at Janusz Kusociński Primary School No. 32 in Kielce

On 20 October, pupils of Janusz Kusociński Primary School No. 32 in Kielce took part in integration workshops devoted to the folk culture of the Świętokrzyskie region and other European nations. Held as part of the “Friendly School” programme, the workshops combined exploring traditions with building relationships within the school community.

On 20 October 2026, Janusz Kusociński Primary School No. 32 in Kielce hosted integration workshops devoted to the traditions and folk culture of the Świętokrzyskie region and other European nations. Held as part of the “Friendly School” programme, the meeting combined exploring cultural heritage with helping pupils get to know one another.

The topics covered offered a chance to look at regional traditions in a broader European context. Folk culture became a starting point for learning together and exploring diversity, both within the region where we live and in other parts of Europe.

Świętokrzyskie traditions in a European context

Learning about folk culture helps us better understand the place where we live and the heritage passed down through generations. During the workshops, themes from the Świętokrzyskie region were explored alongside the traditions of other European nations. This perspective encourages pupils to notice both differences and similarities in the ways people preserve their culture.

Knowledge of local heritage can provide a shared point of reference for children from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Learning about the traditions of other communities also helps develop curiosity and openness towards what matters to others.

Culture as a starting point for integration

The workshops were part of the “Friendly School” programme’s activities supporting relationships within the school community. Exploring culture together creates opportunities to meet, talk and learn from one another. It helps create a space where different experiences can become a starting point for cooperation and mutual understanding.

We thank the pupils and staff of Janusz Kusociński Primary School No. 32 in Kielce for the meeting and their cooperation!
