Geology, theatre and integration – students of Primary School No. 18 discovered Kielce in a new way

On 19 June, students of Primary School No. 18 named after Zbigniew Kruszelnicki “Wilk” in Kielce, together with their guardians and teachers, took part in an integration meeting at the Geoeducation Centre and at Baza Zbożowa.

Students of Primary School No. 18 named after Zbigniew Kruszelnicki “Wilk” in Kielce, together with their guardians and teachers, took part in a special integration meeting organised as part of the project “Increasing the level of wellbeing of the school community in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship”.

The event was attended by students from Poland and Ukraine — participants of the project. The programme combined regional education, discovering the natural heritage of Kielce and the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, as well as artistic activities strengthening integration, cooperation and openness to diversity.

The first part of the day took place at the Geoeducation Centre in Kielce. The participants took part in thematic workshops devoted to the history of the Earth, geological curiosities and the unique heritage of the Świętokrzyskie region. It was an opportunity to discover that the nearest surroundings can be a fascinating space for learning, experience and exploring the world together.

The second part of the meeting took place at Baza Zbożowa. There, the students participated in multicultural theatre workshops with elements of drama, led by the invaluable Dorota Anyż — an actress of the “Kubuś” Theatre in Kielce and co-founder of the Studio TM Foundation.

The theatre workshops allowed the participants to work with emotions, movement, voice and imagination. They also created a space for building relationships, overcoming language barriers and strengthening the sense of belonging to a group. Through drama methods, the children could get to know one another better, learn cooperation and express their own experiences in a safe and creative atmosphere.

The combination of geological and theatre workshops showed that education can be interesting, practical and integrative at the same time. The students had the opportunity not only to gain knowledge, but also to act together, talk, create and experience diversity as a value.
