An autumn gathering in Tokarnia – bringing the school community from Starachowice together

Exploring the folk culture of the Świętokrzyskie region and spending time together brought the community of Primary School No. 12 in Starachowice closer together. Guides from the Kielce Countryside Museum led participants through the Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia.

On 22 September 2026, the Ethnographic Park in Tokarnia hosted an autumn integration gathering for the community of Primary School No. 12 in Starachowice. Parents, guardians, teachers and students with a migration background took part in the trip. Spending time together outside school encouraged conversation, helped participants get to know one another and strengthened mutual trust.

The event was organised as part of the project “Improving the well-being of the school community in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship”. Its aim was to strengthen relationships within the school community, support the integration of families with a migration background and create opportunities for parents, guardians and teachers to share their experiences.

The main focus of the gathering was exploring the folk culture of the Świętokrzyskie region, introduced by guides from the Kielce Countryside Museum in Tokarnia. During the tour, participants learned about traditional buildings, customs and everyday life in the region’s villages in the past. The guides’ stories helped them better understand the region’s history and heritage.

Exploring the open-air museum together provided opportunities to talk about culture and customs and share personal experiences. For students with a migration background, the trip was also a chance to get to know the region where they now live and study.

An important part of the event was the time children and adults spent together. Parents and guardians could discover new places alongside their children and talk with teachers in a less formal setting. Gatherings like this help people get to know one another and strengthen cooperation between families and the school.

The autumn trip to Tokarnia combined learning about the region with intercultural integration. Discovering the heritage of the Świętokrzyskie region together was an opportunity to build relationships and a sense of belonging to both the school and local communities.
