Training for teachers in Końskie – how to counteract prejudice and discrimination at school

On 19 May 2026, a training session for the teaching staff was held at Primary School No. 1 in Końskie, organised as part of the “Friendly School” project. The meeting focused on prejudice, discrimination and practical ways to counteract these phenomena in the school environment.

The workshop was led by Dr Katarzyna Krzystanek – a psychologist who, in her training and educational work, pays particular attention to building a safe, open and supportive space for children, young people and teaching staff.

The main aim of the training was to deepen teachers’ knowledge of the mechanisms behind prejudice, stereotypes and discriminatory behaviour, as well as to discuss ways of responding to difficult situations in everyday school life. Participants talked about how to recognise signs of exclusion, how to support pupils exposed to unequal treatment, and how to strengthen attitudes of respect, empathy and responsibility within the school community.

The training was workshop-based. Teachers actively took part in the discussion, shared their experiences and analysed situations that may occur in the educational environment. The strong engagement of the teaching staff of Primary School No. 1 in Końskie and their lively interest in the topic made the meeting take place in a very positive, open and friendly atmosphere.

Activities carried out as part of the “Friendly School” project are aimed at strengthening the competences of educational staff, supporting the wellbeing of the school community and creating an environment in which every pupil can feel safe, noticed and respected.

📌 Important: Counteracting prejudice and discrimination at school is not only about responding to difficult situations, but also about building a daily culture of dialogue, mutual respect and openness.
