Government Programme for Equalising Educational Opportunities for Children and Young People “Friendly School” for the years 2025–2027

Target group:

The Programme is addressed to schools attended by pupils from Ukraine who meet the conditions set out in the Programme.
The implementation of the Programme supports the functioning of the entire school community, including children and young people with migration or refugee experience from countries other than Ukraine who attend Polish schools, their Polish peers, parents and guardians, as well as teachers and educational staff.

Programme objective:

The main objective of the Programme is to support schools attended by pupils from Ukraine by creating conditions in which entire school communities feel safe, and children and young people are able to build positive peer relationships and develop their knowledge, skills and competences.

Scope of support:

“Assistant support” – co-financing the employment of assistants referred to in Article 165(8a) of the Education Law Act. The assistant, among other tasks, diagnoses stages of culture shock and barriers to adaptation and integration, and undertakes activities aimed at helping the pupil adapt to the new realities of the Polish education system and subsequently equalise their educational opportunities within the wider school community.

“Well-being of the school community”, aimed at implementing various forms of support for the well-being of the school community, including:

  • support for pupils – specialist consultations, specialised psychological assistance, career guidance;
  • support for parents or guardians of pupils with migration or refugee experience in solving educational and upbringing-related problems and in developing their parenting competences;
  • support for education system staff in addressing educational, teaching and caregiving challenges.

“Professional development of education system staff”, aimed at improving and enhancing the professional competences of education system personnel, including through training in the following areas:

  • educational support resulting from migration or refugee experience;
  • working with classes and class teams attended by pupils with migration or refugee experience;
  • supporting the inclusion of pupils;
  • providing individual support to pupils.

Total value of support: PLN 499,903,491.80
EU funds contribution: PLN 412,513,516.80

The project is implemented under the Government Programme for Equalising Educational Opportunities for Children and Youth “Friendly School” for the years 2025–2027, co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus under the Programme “European Funds for Social Development” 2021–2027, action 04.17 “School for All”.
